American Music Awards: BTS and Megan Thee Stallion Won three Awards and the complete list of winners

The South Korean group BTS won three awards: best artist of the year, best pop group, and best pop song. Telepathy by Kali Uchis was named Best Latin Song.

BTS, the South Korean group, rose as one of the great winners of the American Music Awards (AMAs) with three statuettes in each of the categories in which they participated: Best Pop Song, Best Pop Group, and Artist of the Year, alongside Megan Thee Stallion, who also received three statuettes but was unable to attend the ceremony.

Since 2018, the K-pop group has been the focus of these awards. They had previously won awards for Favorite Network Artist, Favorite Duo or Group, and Tour of the Year. They also received three awards in 2019.

BTS was also in charge of entertaining the audience with two performances: one with the English band Coldplay and another solo, interpreting Butter, their second song entirely in English.

However, Latin artists were also prominent at the AMAs, which were hosted by rapper Cardi B, who enlivened the night with her extravagant outfits and sense of humour.

Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rican, performed his latest single Lo Siento BB: / with producer Tainy, in which both used a technological aesthetic, including a robotic figure with a screen as a face on which Julieta Venegas was projected, interpreting your part of the song. With “The Last Tour of the World,” the Puerto Rican singer won two awards: Best Latin Artist and Best Album.

The Mexican Becky G was named Best Latin Artist, and she dedicated her award to all Latinos, including the other artists who competed for the statuette.

Only the latter of the four Colombian nominees, Karol G, Maluma, J Balvin, and Kali Uchis, received an award that was not presented at the gala. It won the award for Best Latin Song for its hit Telepathy.

Only Kali Uchis is one of four Colombians to have won these awards, which are decided by popular vote in the United States. Shakira has five awards, all of which she received in the Best Latin Artist category in 2005, 2006, 2010, 2012, and 2017.

J Balvin won in the same category in 2019, and Karol G won Best Latin Song for her success with Tusa.

The Battle of Boston was also highlighted during the awards ceremony, with two groups that emerged in that city in the 1980s. New Edition was formed in 1982, and New Kids on the Block was formed in 1986. Both bands are currently promoting a North American tour.

Olivia Rodrigo was the artist who won the award for the revelation of the year. The young 18-year-old singer has only released one album, but she has established herself as one of her country’s great musicians. She was the only one of the five nominees who was also nominated for Best Artist of the Year.
