Shradul Thakur Replaces Axar Patel in ICC World T20I team

The T20 World Cup-2021 will begin on October 17. On October 24, India will kick off its campaign with a high-octane match against Pakistan. Just before the Maha Kumbh of T20 cricket, changes were made in the Indian camp.

Shardul Thakur, the all-rounder, has been named to the 15-man squad in place of Axar Patel. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a press release with this information. Akshar Patel’s name has been added to the list of players on standby.

“The All India Senior Selection Committee has included Shardul Thakur in the main team after discussions with the team management,” BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in a statement. Axar Patel, an all-rounder, was part of the 15-man squad but will now be added to the list of stand-by’ players.

Some cricketers have been asked to remain in the team’s bio bubble in Dubai and assist the Indian team in its preparations. Avesh Khan, Umran Malik, Harshal Patel, Lukman Meriwala, Venkatesh Iyer, Karan Sharma, Shahbaz Ahmed, and K. Gautam are among those involved.

The T20 World Cup 2021 will be held in Oman and the United Arab Emirates from October 17 to November 14. Ireland, the Netherlands, and Namibia will be in Group A with Sri Lanka, while Oman, PNG, and Scotland will be in Group B with Bangladesh.

The defending champions, West Indies, have been placed in Group 1 of the Super-12, alongside former champions England, Australia, and South Africa, as well as two round one qualifier teams. Former champions India and Pakistan, as well as New Zealand, Afghanistan, and the two remaining qualifier teams from Round 1, will be in Group 2.
