Mahendra Singh Dhoni has left the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings before the start of the Indian Premier League 2022. This is nothing less than a shock for his fans. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been made the captain in place of Dhoni.
Chennai Super Kings gave this information through their official website. Dhoni will be associated with the team as a player. Let us tell you that before the mega auction of IPL 2022, Jadeja was the most expensive player retained by Chennai. He was retained by Chennai for Rs 16 crore. While the team had paid Rs 12 crore to MS Dhoni.

Ravindra Jadeja is running in very good form. Jadeja is an expert player in contributing with the ball as well as with the bat. For the last several seasons, he has emerged as the biggest match-winner for Chennai.
Whenever captain Dhoni needed a wicket, he used to turn Jadeja’s number. Ravindra Jadeja had hit 5 sixes in an over in the match against RCB in IPL 2021.

Jadeja will be the third captain of CSK
Ravindra Jadeja has been with the Chennai team since 2012. He will be the third captain of the CSK team. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was heading the team since the first season of IPL i.e. 2008. While captaining in 213 matches, Dhoni has led the team to victory in 130 matches. In between, Suresh Raina has also captained in 6 matches, out of which the team won only 2 matches.
Jadeja was retained for Rs 16 crore
This time the Chennai team had retained 4 players including Jadeja and Dhoni. Jadeja was retained by the franchise for Rs 16 crore. Whereas Dhoni was retained for this season only for 12 crores.
From this it was guessed from the very beginning that Jadeja could be made the captain. Apart from him, Moeen Ali was retained for 8 crores and Rituraj Gaikwad for 6 crores.
