The homonymous protagonist, played for the occasion by Anya Taylor-Joy, is clearly at the centre of Emma, looking for a new woman to be with following the marriage of her ex-governess. Harriet Smith (Mia Goth), a young woman born of unknown parents but almost certainly the daughter of a gentleman, finds herself in her crosshairs.

In the midst of misunderstandings, social embarrassments, and subtle manipulations, the two girls become friends, united in their search for the right man for Harriet. Emma, for her part, is still waiting for Frank Churchill (Callum Turner), convinced that the perfect relationship will be born between her and him.
In between social engagements, the young lady enjoys teasing her father (Bill Nighy) and confiding in George Knightley (Johnny Flynn), her sister’s brother-in-law.

Emma received 87 per cent positive reviews on the Rotten Tomatoes portal and a score of 71 on Metacritic, while audiences gave the film a 6.7 on IMDB, but that’s not all: Emma was nominated for two Oscars, Best Makeup and Best Costumes, on the night of the Oscars.
