Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been summoned by the ED in connection with the Panama Papers leak case.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for interrogation in connection with the Panama Papers leak investigation. The actress will almost certainly come before the agency today to record her statement or request a new date.

According to ANI, the ED has initiated a money laundering case in the incident under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA).

The Panama Papers are the 11.5 million encrypted secret documents that were leaked and released in April 2016. The hack revealed the financial information of over 214,488 offshore organizations.

Mossack Fonseca, a Panamanian offshore law firm and corporate service provider, created the records, some of which date back to the 1970s.

Current and former international leaders, public officials, legislators, celebrities, and corporate executives were among those whose names were released in dozens of documents revealing personal financial information.
