The Panama Papers are the 11.5 million encrypted secret documents that were leaked and released in April 2016. The hack revealed the financial information of over 214,488 offshore organizations.
Mossack Fonseca, a Panamanian offshore law firm and corporate service provider, created the records, some of which date back to the 1970s.
Current and former international leaders, public officials, legislators, celebrities, and corporate executives were among those whose names were released in dozens of documents revealing personal financial information.
