Tusshar Kapoor Launches His Debut Book About Fatherhood

Tusshar Kapoor has launched his debut book about fatherhood with Penguin India. The name of the bok is Bachelor Dad. Tusshar Kapoor wrote ‘ I WROTE A BOOK! Becoming a father has been one of the most cherished moments of my life & my first book, Bachelor Dad, talks about how I took a slightly unconventional road to fatherhood. Published by ⁦@PenguinIndia ⁩ U can pre order it now on Amazon.’

Tusshar Kapoor has been enjoying fatherhood since the birth of his son, Lakshya, via surrogacy in 2016. He discussed his decision to become a single father and why he chose surrogacy over adoption on Kareena Kapoor Khan’s radio show What Women Want.

When Kareena questioned Tusshar about not adopting a child, he replied, “Mujhe apna bachcha chahiye tha” (I wanted a biological child). You never know, maybe I’ll adopt in the future. Never, ever say “never” to anything. If people who marry and have stereotypical families want to have children, why can’t I as a single parent?”

“Pata nahi yeh kyun hota hai ki agar aap single ho aur aap bachcha chahte ho, toh log bolte hai, ‘Aap adopt kyun nahi kar lete?” Arre, poori duniya khud ke bachche paida kar rahi hai, hum kyun nahi kar sakte (I’m not sure why, if you’re single and want a child of your own, people say, ‘Why don’t you adopt?’) Why can’t we have biological children when the rest of the world can?)?” the actor added.

Tusshar also discussed the moment he realized he was ready to have a child. He stated that after the age of 35, his paternal instincts became very strong, and he seriously considered it. Marriage, he felt, could wait, but fatherhood could not.

“I was getting worried because my energy level is high right now and I could have a child.” When I turn 50 in 15-20 years, I won’t be able to play with my child as much as I do now. So I need to think about this quickly. I was very excited at first, but then the nervousness set in. “It took me about a month or two to get started,” he said.

Tusshar’s sister, producer Ekta Kapoor, is also a single mother to Ravie, a son born via surrogacy in January 2019.
