Maeta, a 21-year-old singer, took to Instagram on December 19 to share the terrifying moment she was bitten by a snake while filming one of her music videos. Two serpents were placed on top of her while she was lying on the floor in a black lace body suit—and one got a little too close, nipping at her chin. “What I go through to make videos for y’all,” she captioned the quick clip.
Aside from the snake bite, Maeta is slithering into 2022 on a high after a memorable year. She signed with Jay-Roc Z’s Nation in April and released her EP Habits, which includes songs such as “Toxic,” “Bitch Don’t Be Mad,” and “Teen Scene.” In addition, in October, the Indianapolis native joined H.E.R. on her Back of My Mind Tour.
Not a bad start for a kid who wanted to move to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams. “Music has always been my thing,” she told All Access Music in March 2020. “I’ve always been the singer, whether with my family or at school; it’s what everyone knows me as.” People have always been supportive, but they had no choice because there was nothing else I could do.”
