Madelyn Renee Cline or Madelyn Cline was born December 21, 1997, is an American film and television actress best known for her roles as Tina in Stranger Things and Sarah Cameron in Outer Banks, both of which she starred in on Netflix.
Madelyn Cline began her career in 2009, after appearing in a few commercials and making her film debut in the short Milites Christi. She later made her television debut in the TV movie The Jury (2016), and she rose to prominence in small roles on The Originals and Stranger Things.
Her celebrity came to her in 2020, when she starred in the Outer Banks. She has appeared in a few music videos.

The early years of Madelyn Cline
Cline was born in Charleston, South Carolina, to real estate agent Pam Cline and engineer Mark Cline. She became interested in acting when she was young, and she used to spend her summers in New York working on TV commercials. She attended Coastal Carolina University after graduating from Charleston Day School but dropped out at the age of 19 to devote herself entirely to acting.
The acting career of Madelyn Cline
Her acting debut came in 2009 when she appeared in Jared Outten’s short film Milites Christi. She appeared in the film 23rd Psalm: Redemption two years later (2011),
She played Maya Smith in the short films Children of Wax (2012) and Bridge the Gap (2013). (2014). She made her television debut in 2016 with the telefilm The Jury, in which she played Grace Alexander; she also appeared in the family comedy Savannah Sunrise (2016).
Following this, she rose to prominence with her role as Eleven in the Netflix series Stranger Things (2017), alongside Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, and Gaten Matarazzo, among others.
She also appeared in recurring roles on The Originals (2017) with Daniel Gillies and Vice Principals (2016-17) with Danny McBride, as the young Taylor Watts. She also appeared in the short film Wild Flowers (2017) and played Chloe in Boy Erased, a film about conversion therapy starring Lucas Hedges and Nicole Kidman, in 2018. Troye Sivan, an Australian singer, was also featured on the tape.
Later, she co-starred with Odessa Young in the thriller The Giant (2019).
Outer Banks Notoriety
Outer Banks, a Netflix series in which she plays Sarah Elizabeth Cameron, the fictional daughter of Charles Esten and Chase Stokes’ romantic interest, premiered in April 2020. (as John Booker Routledge).
The series follows a group of teenagers as they search for JB’s missing father while being pursued by a mysterious treasure they discover along the way. The series also stars Madison Bailey (Kiara Carrera), Jonathan Daviss (Pope Heyward), and Rudy Pankow, in addition to Stokes and Cline (JJ Maybank).
It was announced in July 2020 that the series would be renewed for a second season. Cline and Stokes appeared in Kygo and Donna Summer’s Hot Stuff music video a few months later. She also appeared in the series Day by Day (2020) and co-starred in the film What Breaks the Ice (2020).
This Is the Night (2021), a film starring Naomi Watts and Frank Grillo in which she plays Sophia Larocca, will be released in 2021.
