Layilah Nasser is an American beauty queen, technology professional, model, and pageant coach. She is best known for being crowned Miss Maryland USA 2021 and for building a career that bridges corporate leadership and empowerment advocacy.

Early Life and Education

Layilah Ayesha Nasser was born and raised in Montgomery Village, Maryland. As a child, she experienced bullying, an experience she has openly discussed as a challenge that shaped her resilience and confidence.

She joined Girl Scouts in the first grade and remained active for years. Over time, she served as a troop leader in multiple locations, including Denmark. She also became a spokesperson for Girl Scouts of the National Capital. One of her notable leadership moments included co-emceeing the organisation’s 100th anniversary celebration on the National Mall, an event attended by approximately 250,000 people.

Nasser graduated from Spelman College with a degree in Psychology. She later pursued advanced studies in Quantitative Methods and International Affairs at Columbia University, further strengthening her academic and analytical background.

Pageant Career

Layilah began her pageant journey at a young age. She earned the title of Miss Teen Maryland International early in her career. In 2016, she competed in USA National Miss and gained additional public visibility through interviews and media coverage.

On June 25, 2021, she was crowned Miss Maryland USA 2021. Standing at 5 feet 10 inches, she competed in Miss USA 2021 in Tulsa, representing her state on the national stage.

In 2019, she founded Layilah Nasser Pageant Consulting. Through this business, she offers full service pageant coaching. With more than a decade of experience, she mentors contestants in interview preparation, confidence building, branding, and stage presence.

Professional Career in Technology

Alongside pageantry, Nasser built a career in the technology sector. She worked at Google as a Recruiting Coordinator. She later joined Adobe, where she helped pioneer the company’s first Diversity Talent Acquisition team. In that role, she contributed to securing more than 1,000 opportunities, including internships, apprenticeships, and full-time roles, for underrepresented talent.

She also launched Queen in Tech Connect, an initiative that empowers women in technology through workshops, networking opportunities, and career resources.

Philanthropy and Global Engagement

Nasser has supported scholarship initiatives, awarding more than 2,000 dollars to students across the United States. Her philanthropic efforts include fundraising for hearing aids at an orphanage in Haiti and volunteering with organisations such as the Ronald McDonald House.

She has travelled to more than 25 countries, with Iceland, Turkey, Spain, and Cuba among her favourites. Her global exposure informs both her leadership style and advocacy work.
