Layilah Nasser was named Miss Maryland USA 2021 on July 25, 2021. Nasser, 26, worked for twelve years to achieve the title so she could compete on the Miss USA stage. She finished in the top 16 of Miss USA, which was held on November 29th at River Spirit Casino Resort’s Paradise Cove Theater in Tulsa.

Layilah Nasser was raised in Montgomery Village, Maryland, and has always wanted to help her community. She has been a Girl Scouts of America member since the first grade. She has been able to serve as a troop commander in two states as well as in Copenhagen, Denmark, because to her enthusiasm for giving back.

Layilah Nasser was bullied for several years as a child before she was ready to go out of her comfort zone and take the lead. She was president of the troops for several years after winning the first troop presidential election.
The abilities she obtained from this experience led her to further opportunities for leadership within Girl Scouts.
Layilah worked as the Girl Scouts of the Nation’s Capital’s spokesman for a year and interned in the Public Relations Department. She was able to spread the message through speaking at various events, taking part in films, and doing interviews.
Layilah Nasser was given the opportunity to co-emcee the 100th-anniversary celebration on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., which drew 250,000 people from all over the world.
Layilah promoted awareness about the Girl Scouts’ historical and future missions. She has received over 100 community service awards and has completed over 3,000 hours of community service with the Girl Scouts and in her community.
Layilah has worked as a local and worldwide Girl Scout leader because she sincerely believes in investing in young women. As a local leader, she worked with 60 girls in two underserved neighborhoods in the greater Maryland area.
Layilah described her most fulfilling experience as an International troop Leader in Denmark. Her group included females from Denmark, Finland, Dubai, and London, but they all had one thing in common: a desire to help others.
She realized that the primary responsibility of a troop leader is not just to plan events, meetings, and service activities, but also to provide a guiding hand in the growth of young women who aspire to be our future leaders.
Layilah Nasser was fortunate to secure her first job after graduating from Spelman College, working at Google as a Recruiting Coordinator before shifting into a more diversity-focused role.
She is currently working on a team that she helped form, the first Diversity Talent Acquisition team at Adobe. Her accomplishments also include multiple companies globally implementing initiatives she established, ranging from a community service organization to a career readiness program for underrepresented talent.
She is delighted to say that during the course of her career, she has provided over 1,000 chances for underrepresented talent, including internships, apprenticeships, and full-time jobs.
Layilah Nasser dedication extends beyond her 9-5 duties as the founder of “Queen in Tech Connect,” which focuses on assisting women in entering the field of technology. As Miss Maryland USA, she intends to use her program to continue to give resources throughout the state through hands-on experiences and skill-building courses.
Layilah also intends to expand her scholarship program in order to continue to encourage women to seek within through the application essay. She has given over $2,000 in scholarships to young females all throughout the country!
Layilah feels that true confidence in oneself is the key to success, which is why she is so committed to investing in other women!
Layilah enjoys travelling. She has visited over 25 countries, beginning in Morocco, Africa. Iceland, Turkey, Spain, and Cuba are among her favourite places to visit. She joined Give Hope Global on a mission to Haiti to support an orphanage. She was also able to convey the importance of respect and kindness.
That same year, Layilah Nasser organized a fundraiser with one of her friends to raise funds for hearing aids for the children at the orphanage.
Layilah also enjoys volunteering for various organizations such as Ronald McDonald House, community outreach projects, and women empowerment clubs!
