Katy Perry mermaid: On Sunday’s episode of American Idol, it was Disney Night, and Katy Perry once again pulled out all the stops. The pop artist and Idol judge continued her practice of donning an elaborate costume for the event, and this year’s maybe the most difficult of all.
Katy Perry showed all the behind-the-scenes how she was dressed in a mermaid dress and how she had to face difficulties because of this dress to reach her stage.
Perry opted to dress up as Ariel from The Little Mermaid, but he took it a step farther than one might expect from an Ariel outfit. She wore a full mermaid tail, a purple shell bra, and a hard, red plastic wig designed to replicate Ariel’s cartoonish crimson locks for a final appearance that truly transformed her into a living cartoon character.

The costume stole the show at the start of Sunday’s major concert, if only because it’s such a tough suit that Perry had to be brought out on a hand cart dolly since walking was impossible.
Perry then took a tumble after fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie eventually got her to her seat at the judges’ table.
Perry isn’t the first person to dress up as Ariel from The Little Mermaid. In April 2019, she went full Ursula, complete with purple body paint, an over-the-top hairdo, and a slew of tentacles.
On Sunday, American Idol’s Disney Night saw the Top 10 reduced down to the Top 7, after the singers sang out a variety of Disney hits.
Noah Thompson, Huntergirl, Nicolina, Leah Marlene, Jay, Christian Guardino, and Fritz Hager are among the artists who made the cut. However, Lady K, Emyrson Flora, and Mike Parker’s Idol journey came to an end.
