Ishaan Kisan completed his early education from KPS from Delhi Public School, Patna, and then BA from Commerce College Patna.

Ishan Kisan was a talented player since childhood. He was always performing well in matches and every tournament regularly. But the Bihar Cricket Association and BCCI had differences at that time, and the Bihar team was barred from participating in any domestic tournament.

His fellow players say that he used to work hard, not caring about all these things going on at all. But when he realized that there was no way left for him to move forward, he decided to play from his neighboring state of Jharkhand on the advice of his senior players and coach.

Ranji, U-19 team

It is not easy for any player to qualify from another state. But given the talent and consistently good performance of Ishan Kishan, he got a chance to play Ranji from the Jharkhand team very soon.

And taking advantage of the opportunity, Ishan Kishan did quite well in the 2015 Ranji season. As he was only 17 years old at that time, he was also included in the India U19 team and was made the team captain. He represented India in the U19 World Cup in 2016 as the captain of the Indian team, and the team finished as runners-up in the World cup.

He is a handy wicketkeeper but in the U19 world cup, he did not keep the wicket as Rishabh Pant was doing the job.

IPL and Indian Team

And then, due to his magnificent performance, his name was included in the IPL auction, and Gujarat Lions bought him at 35 Lakhs Rupees. But he did not get much chance in the Gujarat Lions team. Then in the 2018 auction, he was included in Mumbai Indians, and MI paid a huge amount of 6.20 crores in the auction. CSK bade up to 3 crores but did not bid further, but RCB started bidding after Chennai left at 3 crores. Since 2018 Mumbai Indians have retained him by paying the same amount for every season.

If we talk about their domestic performance, then on 6 November 2016, playing for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy, they had scored the highest individual score of 273 against Delhi. And he was also the highest scorer for Jharkhand by scoring 484 runs in just 6 matches in the 2017/18 Ranji season.

Ishan Kishan played for Mumbai Indians in the 2020 IPL season, hitting the maximum six in the entire tournament. With his other teammates like Surya Kumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, he was instrumental for MI to win their fifth IPL title.

And after this, he remained under the BCCI selectors’ eye, and then he stormed into the Indian team by scoring 173 runs in the first match in the Vijay Hazare tournament of the 2021 season. And when he got a chance to play in the Indian team, he proved that by hitting a half-century in the first match, it doesn’t matter where you are from; it is where you want to go.
