Ellie Goulding has revealed that she has been suffering from crippling anxiety

Throughout 2021, Ellie Goulding battled crippling anxiety. She revealed this in an Instagram post and after that support came pouring in from friends and fans.

The 35-year-old pop star, who has an eight-month-old son named Arthur with her husband Caspar Jopling, has taken to social media to discuss her struggles and to wish her fans a happy new year.

The ‘Love Me Like You Do’ singer, who returned to work soon after giving birth, wrote on Instagram, “Happy New Year everyone… This past year has been the most amazing of my life. I became a mother, which was the greatest joy I’d ever known. I’ve had time to sit down with great musicians and writers and create exciting new music that I hope will give listeners the same euphoric escape that I felt while writing it.

“I have released my first book, performed in front of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the President, and Joni Mitchell (and I cannot express how grateful I am for that honour).” I have a dog and a cat who adore me, I have friends who adore me, and I have a husband who adores and supports me every day.

“However, this year has also been the most difficult of my life.” I’ve struggled with a panic I didn’t even know existed on a daily, nightly, and hourly basis.

“While being on stage in front of all of you has been exhilarating and calming in the past, I’ve been struggling this year.”

Ellie believes her anxiety has “dictated” many of her recent decisions.

“If I really think about it, my anxiety has dictated quite a lot of my life and career, and I feel sad about that,” Ellie Goulding continued in her post.

“But it has also shaped who I am, and when I am terrified and feel there is no way out of the sheer panic and dread in my heart and brain, I remind myself that I can feel.”

Ellie Goulding also encouraged her followers to reach out to someone if they were experiencing similar difficulties.

“Talking and opening up is the hardest and best thing you can do,” she said. Life is a precious commodity, and seeing Arthur grow every day gives me hope.

“I have a lot of love and energy for anyone who is going through this.” Let us work together to get through this.”
