Shardul and Sumi believe that by marrying, they will be able to live with their partners of their own volition. Their marriage, however, entails not only freedom, but also keeping the truth hidden from family, friends, and even neighbours. This sword hangs around Shardul and Sumi’s neck all the time, threatening what will happen if anyone finds out the truth about them. Other issues will arise in both of their marriages, and their solutions will have to be worked out by both of them.
Rajkumar and Bhoomi worked wonders
Rajkummar Rao has done an excellent job portraying Shardul Thakur. Rajkumar has immersed himself in his character to the point where you forget Shardul is a film character. Rajkummar Rao masterfully portrayed his character’s insecurity, fear, hesitation, and even the toxic masculinity he learned as a child in the role of a gay cop. In the role of Sumi, on the other hand, Bhumi Pednekar is emotional, sensitive, and brave. Sumi may be hesitant to tell her family about her sexual orientation, but she is not a coward.
In the film, Chum Darang plays Bhumi Pednekar’s partner Jhilmil. His Bollywood debut was considered a success. Chum got to play a parallel lead in Badhaai Do, which is unusual for actors from the Northeast in Bollywood. This film’s supporting cast includes Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chadha, Lovleen Mishra, and Nitesh Pandey. Everyone has done an excellent job with their roles. Sheeba Chaddha has done an excellent job in a limited number of words. Gulshan Devaiah’s cameo in the film is well worth seeing.
Emotions outperform comedy
Badhaai Do, directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni, is a film that is full of emotions as well as comedy. In the film, he depicts how people become isolated while concealing their true feelings. The most striking aspect of a person’s life is his inability to openly discuss his life with his loved ones.
Through this film, Harshvardhan attempted to portray the gay and lesbian community in a realistic manner. In Badhaai Do, an attempt is made to normalize the fact that members of the gay and lesbian communities are no different than us and you. He is a human being, just like you and me. They are as hurt as we are. They experience the same emotions as we do. So, if we can live our lives openly, shouldn’t they be able to as well? If we have the right to love, they should as well.
You get to see the complications of marriage, the traditions of middle-class homes and families, and their demands from the people in your house in Badhaai Do. All of this is depicted in the film with complete reality and honesty. The first half of Badhaai Do is a little slow, but the second half will make you happy and emotional. The film’s music and sound design are excellent. This film will both encourage and entertain you to talk.
