Christina Aguilera is ecstatic about Britney Spears’ newfound freedom, following the end of the Toxic singer’s 13-year conservatorship in November.
The 41-year-old singer, who rose to fame alongside Britney first as a member of the Mickey Mouse Club and then as a global pop star in the early 2000s, addressed the issue on The Enrique Santos Show on January 21.
When asked if she had spoken to Britney since the landmark court ruling, Christina said she “wanted to be careful” about discussing the situation.
However, the Genie in a Bottle singer stated that she “would always be open to talking to Britney.” “I never want to speak negatively about someone I respect and admire, but I couldn’t be happier for her,” Christina said.
The Burlesque star admitted that “growing up in this business can be crazy,” and she offered Britney her support if she ever needed someone to lean on in the future.
“If anyone understands that and knows what that means in that moment, it’s definitely me and her,” she explained. “I will always be available to assist.”
“I love, you know, being able to connect like that with other women… it’s so important, now more than ever, now that we have the ability to connect, for that to happen and for us to always feel connected,” she went on to say.
This isn’t the first time Christina has stated that she supports Britney. Following a court hearing into Britney’s then-current conservatorship last summer, the Las Vegas entertainer praised Britney for speaking out and condemning the strict legal settlement.
