Nitin Gadkari was born in a poor Brahmin family in 1957. In 1976, Nitin Gadkari joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad or ABVP, the student wing of the RSS. he got married to Kanchan Gadkari on 18th December 1984. He completed his B.Com from G.S. Commerce College, Nagpur University and LLB from University College of Law, Main Branch, Nagpur.
Nitin Jairam Gadkari Political Career
From 1995 to 1999, Nitin Gadkari was also a PWD minister in the Government of Maharashtra.
He has also been the President of Maharashtra BJP and has also held the post of Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly from 1999 to 2005. From 2009 to 2013, he was the BJP’s national President. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, he was a candidate from BJP for Nagpur, and he won from Nagpur through 285000 votes. In 2019 too, he recorded his win with 216000 votes from Nagpur.
In 2014, in the government led by Narendra Modi, Nitin Gadkari got the Ministry of Shipping and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. In 2017 he got additional charge of Union Cabinet Minister, Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
In the 2019 cabinet, he got the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and a new ministry, i.e. Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
