New Zealand crushes Bangladesh in the 1st ODI

Odiha News: Bangladesh has recently gone on a tour to New Zealand to play three ODIs and three T20Is.Today, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh in the first ODI at the University Oval Ground in Dunedin. New Zealand won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first, Bangladesh did not have a good start, and on the score of 19, they lost the wicket of their captain and opener Tamim Iqbal.

Soumya Sarkar, the left-handed batsman, who came to batting in place of Tamim Iqbal, could not even speak much, and he was dismissed after playing only three words. He failed to open his account. Bangladesh’s second opener Litton Das also returned to the pavilion at a team score of 42.

No Bangladesh batter even touched the 30-run mark. Mohammadullah scored the highest runs for Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s entire team was reduced to 131 runs within 42 overs. Boult was superb and took 4 wickets; at the same time, Jimmy Neesham and Mitchell Santner took two wickets each. Mohamadullah made 27 runs and was the highest run-scorer for Bangladesh. Mushfiqur Rahim was the second-highest run-scorer for Bangladesh with 23 runs.

Chasing 132 runs, the New Zealand team had a good start, and their first wicket fell at 54. New Zealand chased down the score of 132 runs in just 21 overs. Nicholas scored the highest for New Zealand and remained not out at 49. Martin Guptill played a quickfire of 38 runs of19 deliveries with 4 sixes. New Zealand loses only two wickets, of which Hasan Mahmood and one wicket took one wicket by Taskin Ahmed. In the absence of Kane Williamson, his wicketkeeper Tom Latham was the Captain of the side.

Fast bowler Trent Boult was adjudged Player of the Match. Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal said that the batting of the team was not good, for which he is not very proud. And he also said that Bangladesh’s main strength is its batting and will try to rectify the mistakes in coming matches.

New Zealand Captain Tom Latham said he is pleased with the team’s performance and praised the bowling unit. He also said that when Martin Guptill is in the kind of mood that he was.

The next match will be played between the two teams on Tuesday, 23 March at Christchurch.
