A video clip of Collector Ranbir Sharma of Surajpur district in Chhattisgarh bullying common people has gone viral on social media. During a lockdown in the city on Saturday, he went out on patrol with the cops. On the way, he came across a young boy. Collector Ranbir Sharma questioned him. The collector was taken aback when he heard the boy’s response, so he returned. He smashed the young man’s phone on the raod and asked him a question. Then he slapped the young man hard.
The collector was seen in the video telling the cops that he was filming them. The jawan grabbed the stick and thrashed the boy in front of the collector.

The collector was angry since morning. Police were beating the common people found in the patrol of the lockdown. The one who had mercy left him after the challan. In another incident, he stopped a bike rider while checking. He showed his I-card, Collector Saheb was in no mood to let the man go.
He then asked the cops to beat him but the young man showed proofs of his Covid duty. The officer let him go only after he was completely satisfied up to his feet.
An uproar began as soon as the video of the incident surfaced. People shared this video on social media and wrote that IAS officers forget the suffering of the needy in boasting of their post. So someone termed this attitude of the collector as very irresponsible. Apart from Chhattisgarh, people from other parts of the country shared the video and expressed their anger over the incident.
This is not the first time that IAS has behaved like this. He has done this with others too, and he is habitual of it. The administration is there to help people in distress, but slapping someone just because he is powerless is a brazen misuse of power.
CM Bhupesh Baghela Removes IAS Officer Ranbir Sharma
CM of Chattishgarh has informed through his social media account that the IAS officer has been suspended with immediate effect. He wrote, “Through social media, the case of misbehaviour of a young man by Surajpur Collector Ranbir Sharma has come to my notice. It is very sad and condemnable. In Chhattisgarh, no such act will be tolerated at all. Therefore, instructions have been given to remove Collector Ranbir Sharma with immediate effect.”
किसी भी अधिकारी का शासकीय जीवन में इस तरह का आचरण स्वीकार्य नहीं है।— Bhupesh Baghel (@bhupeshbaghel) May 23, 2021
