Many states has already extended lockdown and some may extend lockdown in their state as the cases increasing.
The districts reporting the high incidence of Covid-19 infections should be in Lockdown condition for another 6 to 8 weeks. The Indian Council of Medical Research said this is needed to fight the highly contagious disease spread.
In an interview, Balaram Bhargava, chief doctor of ICMR, said that districts that are getting 10% or more positive results of Covid from the sample collected should remain in lockdown for some more weeks to slow down the spread of the virus.
Currently, three-fourths of India’s 718 districts, including major cities New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, have a “positive” rate of more than 10%.
For the first time in a long time, a senior government official has pointed out how long the ‘Lockdown’ period should be to cope with the Covid-19 crisis in India. Although he did not criticize the Modi government, Bhargava said there was a slight delay in dealing with the crisis.
