Dilip Kumar, the veteran Bollywood supers, is currently being treated at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. The 98-year-old actor was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday after experiencing breathing difficulties. On Sunday, his wife, actress Saira Banu, was seen outside the hospital. When he noticed the paparazzi gathered, he assured them that everything was fine. She shook his hand several times and assured the paparazzi that Dilip Saheb was fine.
On Monday, the veteran actor will be discharged from the intensive care unit. Dilip Kumar is being treated by Hinduja Hospital doctors Jalil Parkar and Nitin Gokhale, according to reports. In such a case, Nitin Gokhale informed Dilip Kumar on Sunday that he would be removed from the ICU ward on Monday. His health is better than it was previously.
Saira Banu provided an update on her health earlier on Sunday. ‘Dilip sahib is still in the ICU of Hinduja Hospital,’ she said. His health is stable, but he remains under the care of doctors in the intensive care unit. He needs people’s prayers to be able to leave here fit and healthy.
Dilip Kumar life, Career and Marriage
Dilip Kumar, affectionately known as the ‘Tragedy King,’ began his career in 1944 with the film ‘Jwar Bhata,’ and in his five-decade-long career, he gave hit movies such as ‘Mughal-e-Azam,’ ‘Devdas,’ ‘Naya Daur,’ and ‘Ram Aur Shyam.’ He was last seen in the 1998 film Qila.
Dilip Kumar was born in Kissa Khwani Bazaar, Peshawar (Now in Pakistan) on December 11, 1922, and his maiden name was Yusuf Khan. His parents name were Ayesha Begum and Lala Ghulam Sarwar. His father was a fruit merchant and initially Dilip was also involved in his business before joining the film industry. He had 11 more siblings and Yusuf was the fourth among them.
Once Dilip or Yusuf Khan went to Nainital regarding his father’s business where he met Devika Rani. Devika Rani was a superstar then and wife of Bombay Talkies owner Himanshu Rai. Impressed by his looks and personality Devika Rani asked him to come to Bombay and meet her.
Soon Dilip landed in Bombay and his screen test was taken. Devika Rani offered him a 1200 Rupees /month employment with studio, which Dilip Kumar happily accepted.
Later, he rose to prominence on the big screen as Dilip Kumar which was given by ace actress Devika Rani . At the request of a producer, the actor changed his name, and he became known on the big screen as Dilip Kumar.
Though he started his career of “Jwar Bhata” but his major success came in 1947 with the movie “Jugnu”. He was paired opposite Noor Jehan who later migrated to Pakistan and was called “Malika-e -Tarannum” there. In his career, Dilip Kumar has appeared in around 64 movies and given more than fifty hit films.
He was also in the headlines for his love life. He was first associated with his costar Kamini Kaushal during the shooting of ‘Saheed’ but Kamini Kaushal was married then. Kamini married her brother-in-law after her elder sister died to take care of her children. The relationship did not last long and both parted their ways.
After That he was romantically involved with actress and beauty queen of 1950s, Madhubala and even got engaged. But in 1956 both parted their ways too. Madhubala side claims that it was due to the misunderstanding and ego issue during the court case regarding film “Naya Daur”.
But in his autobiography, Dilip Kumar has cited a different reason. He has written that Madhubala’s father wanted him to do films of his home banner only, which was not acceptable to Dilip Kumar.
After Madhubala, Dilip Kumar was not involved in any kind of relation and neither got married for many days. Media at the time even speculated that Dilip Saheb want to remain a bachelor for his whole life.
But in 1966, Dilip Kumar finally got married to Saira Banu who was almost 22 years younger to him. Since then the couple had a happy married life. There was a small disturbance in Dilip and Saira married life for a short period when Dilip Kumar got married to a Pakistani lady.
